Date:
Friday, August 26, 2016
Time:
8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Location:
Animal Rescue League of Iowa, Kruidenier Second Chance Ranch
5452 NE 22nd Street
Des Moines, IA 50313

This training will address common issues identified when dealing with large animal field rescues. Training will start with reviewing the basics of rope rescue knots, anchors, mechanical advantage and animal positioning; then quickly move into advanced system applications to A-frame usage with sling lifts. This 8-hour training is 100% on your feet and not in a classroom.  Awareness level knowledge of "figure 8" rescue knots prior to class will be very helpful to participants but not required. More on "Figure 8" rescue knots can be found at www.animatedknots.com. Participants should plan on dressing for the weather, and bringing work gloves to work with ropes. Participants that also have a protective helmet or hard hat should plan on bringing those to training for PPE while we are working with overhead hazards. Some helmets will be available at class for use.
